\r\n Love for humanity is a Divine attribute whereas helping mankind is a prophetic trait. That is why serving humanity remains at the heart of core values of every religion, philosophy, society and nation. Islam, being the religion of nature, commands particularly that the haves (wealthy people) of the society should help the have-nots (helping the helpless) in every possible manner. Allah the Almighty ordains in Surah Al-Baqra (The Cow), verse 215,\r\n\u201cWhatever you spend of your wealth must be spent for your parents and relatives and orphans and Al-Mas\u0101kin (the poor) and the wayfarers (musaafir)\u201d.\r\nLikewise, Allah the Almighty says in Surah Al-Maarij, verse 24-25,\r\n\u201cAnd those in whose wealth there is a recognised right for the beggars and the destitute\u201d.\r\nIn Surah Anfal, verse 60, Allah says \u201cWhatever you spend in the cause of Allah will be repaid to you in full and you will not be wronged\u201d.
\r\n\r\nAllama Iqbal has explained humanitarian obligations into these words, \u201cTo feel the pangs of each other\u2019s sufferings, He created the human beings \u2013 otherwise there was no dearth of angels for (Allah\u2019s) worship\u201d. In essence, Islamic teachings on \u201cZakat\u201d embody the concept of helping the helpless\r\n
\r\n\r\n While there are several well-off people living in every community, there are many who are leading a life of extreme poverty. There is no doubt that many well-off people imbibed with the spirit of humanity, keep helping the poor from time to time.....\r\n \r\n However, in the absence of an organized structure or system, quite often the needy do not get the requisite help when they need it the most. In this context, a need has been felt to establish a \u201cfoundation\u201d which should harmonize the intent and contributions of the people endowed with compassionate and empathy so as to ensure that the requisite help reaches the needy at the time of their need.\r\n\r\nIt is in this background that \u201cRaza e Elahi Foundation\u201d has been established to institutionalize the pursuits of this noble cause. This foundation does not belong to any individual, family, clan or locality. It is rather a collective effort belonging to every one. Its foundation has been laid purely on the basis of humanity. Therefore, it will be above politics or discrimination on the basis of creed, clan, caste, age or gender. Thus, it will function as non-political organization on the basis of equality in accordance with core values of Islam.
