Love for humanity is a Divine attribute whereas helping mankind is a prophetic trait. That is why serving humanity remains at the heart of core values of every religion, philosophy, society and nation. Islam, being the religion of nature, commands particularly that the haves (wealthy people) of the society should help the have-nots (helping the helpless) in every possible manner. Allah the Almighty ordains in Surah Al-Baqra (The Cow), verse 215, “Whatever you spend of your wealth must be spent for your parents and relatives and orphans and Al-Masākin (the poor) and the wayfarers (musaafir)”. Likewise, Allah the Almighty says in Surah Al-Maarij, verse 24-25, “And those in whose wealth there is a recognised right for the beggars and the destitute”. In Surah Anfal, verse 60, Allah says “Whatever you spend in the cause of Allah will be repaid to you in full and you will not be wronged”.

While there are several well-off people living in every community, there are many who are leading a life of extreme poverty. There is no doubt that many well-off people imbibed with the spirit of humanity, keep helping the poor from time to time..... However, in the absence of an organized structure or system, quite often the needy do not get the requisite help when they need it the most. In this context, a need has been felt to establish a “foundation” which should harmonize the intent and contributions of the people endowed with compassionate and empathy so as to ensure that the requisite help reaches the needy at the time of their need. It is in this background that “Raza e Elahi Foundation” has been established to institutionalize the pursuits of this noble cause. This foundation does not belong to any individual, family, clan or locality. It is rather a collective effort belonging to every one. Its foundation has been laid purely on the basis of humanity.
